Climate Change

The climate change, mainly caused as a result of anthropogenic activities, is aggravating from time to time affecting every corner of the world. Both natural variations in rainfall amount and human being’s activity are cited as the causes of the climate change. The intensity of the negative impact of the climate change however varies from one region to another, while the level of its impact differs from one livelihood to another and from one strata of the society to the other. The negative impact of the climate change is stiffer on the poor and marginalized as they are the least prepared to cope with the possible harm that climate change brings. These groups are more vulnerable since their views are least incorporated in the national and international decision-making arenas.

The Institute intends to analyze the challenges posed by the climate change at the national and regional levels on the livelihoods of their citizens through quality research. Therefore, the Institute strongly believes that its research outcomes will assist both scholars and practitioners working in the area of climate change and lead drawing long lasting policies and plans.
