Conflict

Despite that the conflict and confrontations are part of the human nature and that all the societies have conflicts, and it is inherent to politics as the author of the Bottom Billion has argued. Seventy-three percent of people in the societies of the bottom billion have recently been through a civil war or are still in one, while many other countries have had civil wars at one time or another. The United States had one in the nineteenth century, while Russia also experienced one in the early twentieth century, and Britain one back in the seventeenth century.

In this regard, while the root causes of Africa’s conflicts are complex and disregard the explanation of any single logical point of view, on the other hand, due to its geopolitics, the Horn African region became the playing ground of the Superpowers and served as a cold war proxy. This "cold war” devastated the environment and put on the grave the Horn citizens, and eventually led destitute and abject living conditions and made many countries as orphans of the cold war such as Somalia.

Therefore, the Institute’s main objective is to publish quality research papers that aim to reshape the Horn African region at the dawn of the 21st century and close up the war and the fear of war which led thousands to perish and devastated both the image and resources of the region.
